Daddy, I Want the Golden Ticket...
Island fudge shops will host the "Daddy, I want the Golden Ticket & I want it Now!" fudge vacation contest. Much like in the movie, six Golden Tickets will be placed in special packages of fudge for purchase at designated Island Fudge Shops (odds are one in forty) and all may register to win the sixth Golden Ticket from the Tourism Bureau to be drawn by Miss Michigan Sugar at the Children's Ballet Theatre of Michigan performance at Mission Point Resort.

Celebrate Fudge
Most people don't need an excuse to indulge in a piece or two of creamy, decadent fudge. But, for those who do, the 4th Annual Mackinac Island Fudge Festival runs from August 22-23, 2008 and offers Island dwellers and tourists a terrific reason to celebrate fudge -- made fresh each day at Mackinac's 17 fudge shops.
For more than a century, Mackinac Island's fudge has been an institution that's become famous worldwide. Fudge devotees are known as "fudgies" – a term that is also synonymous with Northern Michigan tourists. Slab fudge, the most common style of fudge made on the Island, is made by pouring liquid ingredients onto large marble slabs for hand working. About 10,000 pounds of the creamy confection are made daily each season.
